The ongoing social media fiasco.

The war of words of persons from two distinct social media communities has turned out to be no less than a fiasco or farce. It is a matter of shame to all those people who have come up with such weird statements of self defence and self appraisal without even knowledge of the fact that they are adjudged as literate fools. Everything seems fun to them and using filthy and inappropriate words to attack and counter attack has become a new normal without even considering that there are many people who are learning this from the unwanted mess. As a responsible citizen and an educated being it is the duty of every individual on this platform to behave in a decent way and not to attack each other in filthy languages. It clearly exposes that even though these chaps are educated because they speak flowery english, still they are bereft of the things which an educated human being must possess. Hurling abusive words and acting miserably is not a sign of maturity rather it is a defect that need to be addressed. 

Some people say that expressing anything in any way is their Fundamental Right under the Freedom of Expression under Article 19 (1)(a) of the Indian Constitution  but before they exercise their right, they should know that every right has a reasonable restriction and they should act within that restriction always and stop being a constitutional eexpert and refrain from interpreting it in their way. Anything that degrades the ethos of the constitution is unacceptable and no where in the constitution it is mentioned that using filthy language in expressing one’s opinion is a Fundamental Right and moreover before exercising the rights one must dutifully follow the Fundamental Duties as well.

The funny part is that this is just a classic example of the clash of the egos of the persons of two communities and nothing else. The reality is that the owners of the two platforms have earned much more than these people can ever imagine due to this virtual crossfire of words in videos and the sad part is that it reveals it is much easy to break the unity of the youth by just putting some absurd and weird thoughts in the minds of an enraged youth. This was the reason of our country’s downfall to the hands of British in the past because we fell in the trap of the divide and rule policy of the Britishers and that same thing is seen now in the contemporary times. When things turn bad outside there is chaos and mob violence but when things turn bad in online platforms it has much more severe impact because the audience is far more than that of a mob in a particular place. Every act leaves an impact on the minds of millions of youth who are viewing such things and that would create a ripple effect in the virtual world as well.

We were taught to be responsible but no one can make us responsible until and unless we take it seriously by treading the path with utmost responsibility. India is a country which has the potential to achieve much greater heights because of its demographic dividends and large scale technological advancements but the way the youth is behaving today is uncalled for and can lead to digression from the path of progress. Social media war will not fetch anything in the end except for hatred and anger. It can also be seen  that when someone is not getting any attention on the social media platforms, it becomes such an issue that ultimately it has led to commission of suicides in some cases. This has to stop and this can be stopped by utilising the resource in a more responsible manner. We should not allow others to earn from the abuses and fights of ours and not make the youth of this nation vulnerable to disintegration and all endeavours must be made towards settling the matters with mutual understanding. However, if there is any kind of threat to the society from any person then such things must be reported to the Cyber Security Departments for further actions instead of becoming the authority in such cases. Proper action taken at proper time will ensure that time is saved as well as peace of mind remains still and undeterred without even getting into undue fights and useless discussions. It is high time that people must know to use the social media instead of getting used by the social media.
